Effective March 1st, 1999, OSHA’s new Final Standard went into effect. In this final rule OSHA requires operators of powered industrial trucks, i.e. forklift, be trained in the operation of such vehicles before the are allowed to operate them independently. What to Expect
Forklift Certification classes are typically 3.5 to 4 hours long, varying based on how many employees need to be instructed. There’s typically 2 to 2.5 hours of class time with direct instruction from our safety expert. Then there’s standard video instruction followed by a written test. Last, employees are given the opportunity to apply their book learning to operating equipment.
Everyone that passes the evaluation will receive their certification cards in the mail within 1-2 business days, along with office copies of evaluations and personnel records – we also keep everything on file in our database for your records.
